Thousands gathered outside Downing Street on Monday as part of an ’emergency protest’ against perceived UK complicity in Donald Trump’s Muslim ban.
Protesters chanting, “Theresa May, shame on you”, roundly condemned the Prime Minister for her inaction in the face of the controversial executive order, barring US entry for nationals of seven Middle Eastern countries with large Muslim populations.
Hand-made placards advocated the withdrawal of President Trump’s invitation for a state visit in the coming year. They also touched on welcoming refugees and abandoning plans for a southern border wall with Mexico.
More playful chants included, “Build a fucking fence around Mike Pence”, and, “You can’t build a wall, your hands are too small.”
