Charlotte England
Freelance foreign correspondent and writer for Vice
London Student served as a bridge between writing for the shitty student newspaper at my university and freelancing for national media… I don’t know if I could have become a journalist without London Student
Ben Jackson
Trainee sub-editor at the Daily Mail
Joining London Student will definitely make you more employable. My time on London Student has, without doubt, helped me get a job in journalism, and I’ve made some friends for life
Anita Anand

I thought I wanted to be a journalist when I started university but after working at London Student, I knew I wanted to be a journalist
Oscar Webb

Working at London Student was one of the most fun and engaging things I’ve ever done… I’d recommend it to anyone
What can we do for you?
For us, the most important co-operative principle is education. That means we believe our journalists should get something in return for their work, whether that’s skill-sharing or training sessions.
We want to help you reach a job in journalism. Some of our students have gone on to work for companies such as the BBC, the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail, Vice, the Sunday Mirror, the Guardian, Dazed, the London Review of Books, and Share Radio.

What we’re looking for
Tell us something new, exciting and relevant
We want original stories that tell our readers something new about things that matter to them. Students don’t care what you think about the latest developments in global politics. But they might care about a rent strike protest at their halls, a student society misusing union funds, or the fact unfair course changes are actually breaking the law.
Stories can come from a variety of sources. You might see something on social media, read a press release, spot something in a national paper that could be applied to a student audience, or hear some information directly from a friend.
All our stories pass through editors for commission. They are there to give you guidance on how to approach the story, spot any legal ramifications and generally ensure our coverage is as high quality and relevant to our readers as possible.
